Headphones are recommended — open speakers in one room can echo back into the microphones.
On Android? Install the app — it keeps translating while the screen is off, which the browser cannot do.

Speak normally — the bar should pass the line, and stay under it when somebody across the table talks. Lower it if you're being cut off; raise it if other people's voices get through.
